While I love incorporating pumpkin into baked goods, that pure pumpkin flavor is not a particular favorite of mine. I'll make pumpkin bread pretty much any day, but plain pumpkin just doesn't appeal to me with very many recipes that I see.
However, along with the spices and chai flavor and tea bags in this recipe, the flavors complimented each other well and was a great seasonal thing to make on a cold day.
You will just need milk, pumpkin pie spice, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and 2 tea bags.
The recipe called for black tea, but I just used these 2 tea bags.
After just a couple of minutes of waiting and stirring the tea bags around, you have this great drink that will definitely be comforting as December approaches (as in, starts on Saturday).
Pumpkin Chai Latte
from Texanerin Baking
makes 2 servings
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 + 1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 cups milk
2 bags black tea
Bring all of the ingredients, except for the tea bags, to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Remove the pan from heat, add the tea bags, and allow to steep according to the time that the tea bags call for.
Sprinkle with cinnamon before serving, if you want.
